My own personal CIPS Journey

I love being a REALTOR and have enjoyed the past 8 years, thoroughly.   The privilege of working with Buyers and Sellers is very rewarding because I always feel that I am joining my clients along their journey, which will ultimately positioning them towards achieving their own personal future goals.

I spent some time considering what I might do to continue providing my professional service, and potentially an added benefit. There are a number of designations available, but to help narrow down the choices, I focused on some of my own personal passions, such as travel & languages, and hoped in some way that I could incorporate these and include an overall global component to my business.

The result of my search brought me to a designation entitled CIPS, Certified International Property Specialist . With my cultural background, years living abroad, and many friends, relatives & associates, strategically located around the world, this intrigued me and felt like it was the right fit.   And so my journey began.

I signed up and attended the courses and experienced such in-depth global knowledge about the continents, including Europe & International, Asia Pacific, The America’s (North/South/Latin) and pretty much the entire world.   The level of information included general knowledge to intense data, ranging from cultural differences, schooling, religion, politics, currency, trade agreements, environmental, emerging economies, environmental awareness, developing real estate markets, geography, and so much more. To say that not a minute was wasted in these classes would be an absolute understatement.   Instructors travel the world teaching the CIPS courses, and the next class was in Spain… I just missed that one by a week, but no regrets, San Jose-Cupertino, was great, and allowed some weekend time in Monterey, Pebble Beach (17 mile drive in) and a visit to the beach in Santa Cruz.

I quickly discovered that International real estate is everywhere, regardless of where you are; there is always an international component. People in Asia, North American, South America, Latin America, move and travel to Europe, and vice versa… it’s totally an endless spiral of opportunity for many.

The CIPS designation is synonymous with advanced expertise, a global perspective, and distinct understanding of a global buyer or seller. As a designee I can efficiently work with all international buyers, including U.S. residents looking to invest overseas, foreign buyers purchasing in the United States, as well as recent immigrants who might be unfamiliar with real estate transaction practices in the United States.
